We drove a further 600km or so to cross the Queensland border into Northern Territory ( time change to half and hour behind!) to get to Tennant Creek an old gold mining town on the Stuart Highway. Again its 32 degrees feeling like 40 degrees in the campervan! Managed to find a campsite with some shade phew! Tennant Creek is typical outback town….nothing much there but gold in them there hills!! We visited the Battery Hill Gold Mining Museum which highlighted just how hard it must have been back in the 1800’s trying to make a living in such harsh surroundings…..all very fascinating!
