Daly Waters Historic Bush Pub, Daly Waters, NT (10th August 2011)

We set off at 7am again to put some km under Hilda’s tyres before it got too hot. Up through Renner Springs and Elliot Springs on the Stuart Highway ever closer to Darwin. Of course we could’nt pass the historic Daly Waters Pub so diverted off the highway and stopped for a night. Certainly got character!! Campsite very basic but at least had running water! We had a wacky evening in the pub entertained by an old Aussie Outback comedian called Chillis who strummed  a bit on the guitar and took the rip out of all the people from the other Australian states and then started on the Americans but luckily seemed to avoid insulting the Poms! The pub itself dates back to the 1930’s and has big bras and all sorts of shirts, bank notes and things hanging from the ceiling! Whilst taking a photo of the bras I was asked by three local chaps if I would put mine there. I replied ‘I don’t think I’ve got one big enough’…….which got a bit of a chuckle out of them!
